Greetings in the name of the Lord! What a blessing it is to be able to go out and enjoy all that He has created! I have been serving the Lord since I was 15 and bowhunting even longer. Outside of my family and friends those are the two biggest passions in my life. I met my best friend and brother in Christ Tom "Frothnag" Dubois in 2001, not by chance but out of the will of God. We soon found that we shared the same passion for the Lord and bowhunting. It was during this time that Rugged Cross Outdoors became a reality instead of just a dream.

God has been such a huge part of my life; in 1978 my parents went through a divorce. What most people would call a tragedy, God turned into an incredible blessing for my family. God in His miraculous way used that situation to bring my family unto Him. Today I am joyful in the Lord to tell you that both sets of my parents are serving Him and have been an incredible example and blessing in my life! Their support and prayers for Rugged Cross Outdoors has been overwhelming and we love them for that! I have two brothers and one sister who mean the world to me; they too have been very instrumental in the development of Rugged Cross Outdoors. God has used their talents in a variety of ways to help us reach our goal of being a spiritual outreach in this world. I want you to know today that no matter what circumstances you may be facing or how bad life seems to be; there is someone standing at the door to your heart knocking and waiting for you to let Him in. He will bring you comfort and peace beyond what you have ever known. He's just waiting for you to open that door!

When autumn rolls around and I feel the crisp morning air, I know that hunting season is right around the corner! Folks, this is my favorite time of the year! I wish I could describe to you the feeling I have when I am in a tree stand over looking a corn field when the rising sun brings the first rays of light over the horizon, man what a blessing from God! Whether I get the animal I am after that day or not I walk away a successful hunter because success to me lies in the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life into the peacefulness of His creation. That's what hunting's really all about. Tom, Jim and I have been blessed to be able to see and hunt animals in all different parts of the United States. The memories that we are able to share between us and other people will always be a part of the person that God has molded me into. I started out a lump of clay but in the potter's hands I became a tool for His ministry.

"God without you I can do nothing. Unless you build the house I labor in vain."
Psalm 127:1

The Addiction:
It's miraculous how the depth and serenity of a bow hunt for whitetails along a wooded creek or a patient stalk through the soft, pleasant atmosphere of nature drains all the tension and confusing thoughts from a person's mind. All the elements of nature work like a prescribed medicine to lift your spirits and cleanse your frustrated soul. After only a few deep breaths and several minutes among the oaks and willows, you're freed of society's grasping control. It's sometimes difficult to find the time to participate, but it's a must to take the time.

You soon forget about money pressures, social problems, the unmowed lawn or the broken window in the garage. Gradually a smile spreads across your face as you begin to feel positive about life, about yourself. You feel sympathy toward those who haven't the desire or time to experience this simple gift. And when you leave the life-giving woodlands and return to the concrete world, you can hold your head high and step lively.

It's a wonder that many human beings fail to take advantage of this mental repair shop. It's free, it's safe and it's worthwhile. But, it's also habit-forming. Once you taste the nectar of pursuing an evasive whitetail, you find yourself wanting it more often and become completely addicted. For your mind becomes free, your soul feels at ease and your body perks with life.

The Moment:
There is a moment between the shot and the impact where nothing moves, not the animal, not the arrow, not the wind, not the leaves and in that moment you see every hair, hear every heartbeat and feel every breath. It's in this moment that you realize the only thing in the universe that's been moved, is you.
